    In April 2020, Getaroom.com cooperated with BBB's 2019 request that the business adequately address a concerning pattern of BBB consumer complaints. At the time, the company communicated actions that it would take, or had already taken, to prevent similar complaints in the future. In response, BBB agreed to monitor the company's BBB complaints for up to a year. The monitoring and review were completed April 26, 2021.


    Among BBB's complaint review was a concerning pattern of complaints alleging Getaroom.com uses deceptive online advertising practices, as well as telephone customer service interactions, that lead consumers to believe they are interacting directly with a particular hotel's staff when they are trying to reserve a room. Consumers often claim they were unaware that they were interacting with a third-party until after they have been charged by Getaroom.com.

      Let me add my own poor experience, which after reading the others below could have been much worse. When I made my reservation for a stay last week, I thought I had reached the property directly; as the phone was answered "Thank you for calling guest reservations". I was charged $34.82 in taxes and FEES on a $74.99 room. The property was not able to give me a detailed receipt at check-out as it had been made by a third party ... so I called the 866 number I had originally called. They could/would not give me a receipt with a breakdown of the taxes and fees charged. I had to ask what business I had called ... at no time was it voluntarily disclosed. My recommendation .. save yourself aggravation and money and DO NOT use this "service".

All prepaid reservations are fully disclosed by the Reservation Specialist including the cancellation policy, terms and conditions of booking, the subtotal, and tax recovery charges, and service fees. We understand that you have questions or concerns regarding our tax recovery charges and service fees. To help clarify, this charge includes the estimated amount we pay to the hotel in connection with your reservation for taxes owed by the hotel including, but not limited to sales and use tax, occupancy tax, room tax, excise tax, value-added tax, and/or other similar taxes. In certain locations, the tax amount may also include government-imposed service fees or other fees not paid directly to the taxing authorities but required by law to be collected by the hotel. The amount paid to the hotel in connection with the reservation for taxes may vary from the amount we estimate and include in the charge to you. The balance of the charge for Taxes and Fees is a fee we retain as part of the compensation for our services and to cover the costs of the reservation. You are able to access a receipt for your booking on our website. Click on 'View Reservation' from your confirmation email to view the online confirmation receipt. The online confirmation receipt will provide a breakdown of the night rates charges, the Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees, the total for your booking, and the billing information for your transaction. We regret any inconvenience or frustration that this experience has caused you and hope the information we provided above has adequately addressed your questions or concerns.
