- Additional Info:On August 25th, 2006, the Better Business Bureau has been informed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., a non-for-profit product safety testing organization ensuring product compliance and based in Northbrook, IL, that Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. ("UL") is not affiliated with the correspondence, checks or Chicago post box office printed on the checks (P.O.Box 75330) sent by "Underwriter Lab, Inc (Canada Branch) Management and Payment System, Sweepstakes and Internet Games Payment Verification Center." UL informed the Bureau that it is not affiliated with the correspondence or its sender in any way. UL further states that it has not authorized anyone to use their name in connection with any solicitation or sweepstakes of this type. The company has not approved either the correspondence or the checks issued. In addition, UL states that the correspondence misrepresents the company and is believed to be fraudulent. Finally, Underwriters Laboratories Inc has issued a statement that the company intends to take whatever action necessary to stop the sender from misusing UL's name and identity.
