On October 24, 2019, BBB challenged this company’s advertising that appears on their web site at www.homeaglow.com. The advertisement states “no problem! You can easily cancel or update your plan immediately after booking, so pick any frequency for now. We ask customers to set up their recurring plan now to make sure their cleaner’s time is reserved for future appointments.” The booking section does not allow for a one-time only cleaning service.
According to complaints on file with BBB, consumers find out after signing up they are enrolled in a membership and are charged to cancel.
According to the BBB Code of Advertising the primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertisings rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any claims or offers made before publication or broadcast and, upon request, present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.
BBB notified Homeaglow asking that they modify their web site (booking section) to allow for one-time cleaning services. BBB also asked the company to substantiate that consumers are aware of all terms (which include recurring plan information) before obtaining billing information, that they receive consumers consent for recurring plans and that consumers are able to cancel or stop recurring charges.
To date the company has not responded to BBB’s request.
