However, BBB has received consumer complaints alleging that Italo Jewelry does not honor the advertised "30-Day Return Policy." Furthermore, consumers allege difficulty in getting a response or reaching representatives when inquiries or issues arise. Consumers allege that when they do receive a response, they are told by Italo Jewelry representatives to keep their jewelry and are asked to pay additional money to receive a new item, rather than returning their item(s) for a refund as the policy states.
The BBB Code of Advertising states, "1.1 The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB. 1.2 Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used. 1.3 An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true. 1.4 Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact."
While the business initially responded to BBB's inquiry, they subsequently failed to respond to our additional correspondence and make any requested modifications. As of February 6, 2019, the business has failed to modify or discontinue the advertised claims.
