- Advertising Review:
On March 10,2020 the Better Business Bureau sent a letter to Cedar Valley Roofing of Nanaimo, British Columbia regarding advertising on their website which states "We offer a 5 year labour warranty and a limited lifetime warranty on the products we use.". The Better Business Bureau challenged the advertisement based on the Better Business Bureau Code of Advertising Standards which states 'When using the term "warranty" or "guarantee" in product advertising, the advertiser must clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warranty can be seen prior to sale at the advertiser's location, viewed on the advertiser's website or, in the case of mail or telephone order sales, made available free on written request.
The Canadian Code of Advertising Standards states: "No advertisement shall offer a guarantee or warranty, unless the guarantee or warranty is fully explained as to conditions and limits and the name of the guarantor or warrantor is provided, or it is indicated where such information may be obtained."
A second letter was sent on June 1, 2020. To date the company has failed to respond to or address the Better Business Bureau Advertising Challenge.
