On January 26, 2016, BBB reached out to the owner of For Men Family Law concerning their ad claim, “All Family law, all men, all the time. We do not do anything else.” BBB believed the firm had not properly clarified whether or not the statement applied to just the firm and/or it’s attorneys and ownership. BBB had been advised it’s owner and attorney of counsel represent women.
In addition, BBB also inquired about the registration of the business with the State of Washington as For Men Family Law advertises itself as a LLC on its website and BBB could not find a LLC registration for the business or with Washington’s Secretary of State or a trade name registered with State of Washington Business Licensing Service. To date, BBB has not found For Men Family Law registered as a LLC independently or as a trade name under Fannin Litigation Group, P.S. with Washington State.The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true. Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact. Although the business added a disclaimer stating they reserve the right to represent any person, BBB does not believe this disclaimer is clear or conspicuous to their claims.
