According to the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) any contractor who contracts for work over $1,000 is required to obtain one of the following license classifications:
Class C contractors are limited to contracts/projects of less than $10,000 with an aggregate total of all contracts/projects done in a twelve month period of less than $150,000.
Class B contractors are limited to contracts/projects of less than $120,000 with an aggregate total of all contracts/projects done in a twelve month period of less than $750,000.
Class A contractors have no limits to contract/project size based on dollar amounts.
A contractor's license is not required for work that is under $1,000 with the exception of landscape irrigation and water well systems, both of which require a contractor license regardless of the dollar amount.
Trade-related work (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and gas-fitting) and elevator/escalator work, require that the individual performing be licensed for work that is under $1,000. Once the work hits the $1,000 threshold, a contractor license is required for the company.
On November 19, 2021 a letter was sent by mail to the company requesting basic information on the company, such as principal, number of employees, email, and website. On April 5, 2022 and investigation letter was sent to company regarding their lack of contractor's license. On April 14, 2022 an investigation letter was returned by the post office with a new address. On April 19, 2022 a new investigation letter was sent to the new address.
