BBB reports on known government actions involving business' marketplace conduct.
The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.
On October 29, 2019 Pardue Painting Company entered into a Consent Order with the Commonwealth of Virginia Board for Contractors. The Order settles allegations that Pardue Painting Company violated the following: Failure to make use of a legible written contract clearly specifying the terms and conditions of the work to be performed prior to acceptance of the first payment.

The BBB Code of Advertising, which can be found at www.vawest.bbb.org/bbb-code-of-advertising, “Environmental Benefit Claims”:
Advertisers should avoid broad, unqualified environmental claims such as “green,” or “eco-friendly.” Other claims such as “degradable,” “recycled,” and “non-toxic,” should only be used when substantiated and properly qualified. Environmental Certifications and seals of approval may be used if properly issued. Additional disclosures are needed if not issued by an independent third-party.
Advertisers must qualify general claims with specific environmental benefits.
Advertisers must possess competent and reliable evidence (often scientific evidence) to support all environmental benefit claims. Qualifications for any claim must be clear, conspicuous and understandable.
When an advertiser qualifies a general claim with a specific benefit, the benefit should be significant. Advertisers must not highlight small or unimportant benefits.
Unless clear from the context, any environmental claim must specify clearly and conspicuously whether the claim applies to the product, the product’s packaging, a service or just to a portion of the product, package or service.
BBB requested the business substantiate the claim of “eco-friendly” with specific environmental benefits.
To date, the business has not responded.
