In April 2019, BBB attempted to contact Tea Cup Yorkie Home regarding a number of testimonials on its website (teacupyorkshirepuppies.com).
According to the Code of Advertising, advertising which uses testimonials or endorsements is likely to mislead or confuse if: they are not genuine and do not actually represent the current opinion of the endorser(s); the endorser has not been a bona fide user of the endorsed product or service at the time when the endorsement was given, where the advertiser represents that the endorser uses the product or service; and/or the advertiser represents, directly or by implication, that the endorser is an “actual consumer” when such is not the case and the advertisement fails to clearly and conspicuously disclose that fact.
Based on the Code of Advertising, BBB requested substantiation that testimonials on the website were genuine testimonials from bona fide customers.
BBB’s advertising inquiry was related to an investigation into Tea Cup Yorkie Home’s business practices. The results of that inquiry are reported in the Investigations section of this Business Profile.
BBB must report that Tea Cup Yorkie Home did not respond to requests to voluntarily substantiate, modify, or discontinue its testimonials based on Code of Advertising guidelines.
