A Better Business Bureau investigation revealed Norfolk Automobile Sales did not have a 2021 business license according to the Commissioner of Revenue for Norfolk, Virginia. As of the date of this Business Profile, an Internet search of the company, principal, and address revealed no adverse information on the company nor principal. During an Internet investigation on the company's addresses, it revealed the address belonged to a warehouse. According to the company's website, they allege they are a used car dealer, as well as assisting buyers and sellers get together for the purchase of a particular vehicle by placing advertisements on Craig's list. Consumers that have contacted the BBB allege that they purchased a vehicle from Norfolk Automobile Sales and have not received the vehicle. Upon investigation of the address on the company's website, it revealed it to be a warehouse lot.
On December 21, 2021, a letter was sent to the company requesting basic information from the company. On December 28, 2021, the letter was returned by the post office as "Return to Sender, Attempted Not Known, Unable to Forward."
On January 11, 2022 an investigation letter was sent to the company at the address on file with BBB and posted on their website requesting basic information about the company's nature of business and copies of their licensure, disclosures, cancellation and /or agreements provided to consumers after acceptance or denial, and any additional fees associated with their program.
Recently, BBB was notified about a company that was involved in the same type of program as Norfolk Automobile Sales. Upon investigation of the new company, Smart Classic Sales website, it was revealed that the website's are identical only the name and address are different. As of the date of this Business Profile, Smart Classic Sales has one scam tracker report posted to the BBB's ScamTracker page: https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker/us and Norfolk Automobile Sales has not responded to Better Business Bureau's letter and the letter has not been returned by the post office.
