In July 2020 BBB investigated Astoria Activewear business practices. This investigation was prompted by a pattern of consumer complaints alleging product quality and inaccurate sizing of merchandise prompting requests for full refunds or exchanges. During the investigation it was revealed that Astoria Activewear has a current 2020 business license according to the Commissioner of Revenue for Virginia Beach, Virginia and is active with the State Corporation Commission.

According to the company's website, they sell ladies active wear such as leggings and tops. The companies refund policy states that the consumer has 10 days to return the item for a store credit for the price of the item. If the item was sold at a discounted price then that is the price of the store credit and cannot be used with any current, previous sale or discount. Exchanges are available provided that the original tags or on the item and there are no signs of wear such as deodorant or makeup.

On September 28, 2021, Astoria Activewear contacted BBB with notification about implementation of changes to their customer service policy in response to a BBB pattern of customer complaints. According to Astoria Activewear, they are alleging that they have made some changes to their return, shipping and cancellation policy shown at: https://astoria-activewear.com/pages/return-exchange, ability to utilize discount codes with store credit, increased their shipping timeline from 10 days to 21 days, and changed from using multiple production facilities to only one to decrease the sizing irregularities for certain styles of clothing sizes.
