- Additional Info:"In October 2017, BBB investigated Lone Star Vacation Specialist's business practices. This investigation was prompted due to complaints and scams reported against the business. Concerning consumers stated that Lone Star Vacation Specialist failed to honor sales contracts. The owner marketed the timeshare properties that were owned by the consumers. Consumers stated that the owner would advise the consumer that he already had buyers for their property, and he required a prepaid sales commission. Each request for money was done verbally and was followed by an email giving wire transfer instructions and a ledger statement from the bank. All money paid to the owner was cash, and the money would be transferred to a bank in Mexico. Consumers stated that once the consumer would agree and send a prepaid sales commission, the consumer would receive additional emails requesting more money. Additional money collected by the owner was said to cover such things as property transfer fees, luxury taxes, tax process forms, bank wire fees, and international bank fees. Once the consumers were no longer able or willing to transfer money for additional fees required to complete property sales, Lone Star Vacation Specialist would stop all communication with the consumers.
On 10/20/2017, BBB called Lone Star Vacation Specialist to advise the business of pending complaints.
BBB also mailed complaint notices to business, and mail was returned undelivered.
As of June 12, 2018, BBB has not received a response.
