- Advertising Review:
BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising. These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints, and competitor challenges. BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make more offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.
On June 8, 2023, BBB contacted Nexxess regarding advertisements on their website https://nexxess.com.
Specifically, BBB requested Nexxess substantiate if their business operates internationally as their business name states.
Nexxess website also advertises they offer “bullet-proof asset protection, privacy, and tax strategies. Our typical clients own businesses and already work with CPAs and other professionals. However, nearly all of them were paying 50-80% more in taxes than they should have been paying. If you’re a business owner and your CPA or Tax Professional tells you that you have to pay 15k, 30k, or even more, then give us a call. You deserve to know your options before you send that check to the IRS.”
BBB Code of Advertising states the primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.
BBB requested Nexxess to substantiate and clarify the advertised claim by clarifying “bullet proof asset protection, privacy, and tax strategies” and how they provide this promise or discontinue the advertised claim.
Nexxess also advertises “No Capital Gains Tax.” “How is this possible? It’s possible because we don’t let the “person” own the assets when the gain occurs.” “You must read the Tax Codes to understand this.” BBB requested further clarification of how this is possible including who owns the asset when the gain occurs.
