On May 7, 2019, BBB contacted Austin Professional Painting requesting the business to substantiate a claim that they "provide the longest warranty in the warranty in the industry" on their website www.austinprofessionalpainting.com. Additionally the business advertises on http://www.austinprofessionalpainting.com/residential/exterior-residential-painting/ their work is "backed by a written two-year warranty."
BBB Code of Advertising states when using the term "warranty" or "guarantee" in product advertising, the advertiser must clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warranty can be seen prior to sale at the advertiser's location, viewed on the advertisers website or, in the case of mail or telephone order sales, made available free on written request.
Additionally, Austin Professional Painting advertises on their website "We're an eco-friendly painting service. We use zero VOC and low VOC paint to minimize the impact on the environment and your home..."
BBB Code of Advertising states advertisers should not make broad, unqualified general environmental benefit claims like "green" or "eco-friendly." Advertisers must qualify general claims with specific environmental benefits.
Finally, Austin Professional Painting advertises on their website their painters are licensed. BBB requested Austin Professional Painting to substantiate or discontinue the advertisement as BBB is unaware of license required for the industry.
As of June 4, 2019 Austin Professional Painting failed to provide BBB substantiation to the advertisements on their website.
