- Advertising Review:
On May 6, 2020, BBB contacted Colonics by Sakinah regarding advertised claims on its website https://mycolonic.vpweb.com/. Specifically, BBB requested the business substantiate claims that it offers a “Green facility.” BBB Code of Advertising states advertisers should not make broad unqualified environmental benefit claims like “Green” and “Eco Friendly.” Advertisers must qualify general claims with specified environmental benefits. Claims advertising environmental benefits must be substantiated with competent and reliable evidence (often scientific) to support such claims.
BBB requested the business qualify the general “green” claims with specific environmental benefits. Qualifications for any claims should be clear, prominent, and specific. If specific benefits cannot be specified BBB requests discontinuing the term “Green."
Colonics by Sakinah also advertise claimed results including:
Far Infra-Red Sauna Sessions patients can “burn up to 650 calories per session.”
Colon Irrigation “Supports relief from constipation, reduces bloating and gas, reduces pain from gas pressure, loosens impacted fecal matter, colonics can positively impact Colon Health.”
“Parasite Zapper” inferring “grinding teeth, bed wetting, chronic migraines, and headaches” may be affiliated with parasites.
BBB Code of Advertising states claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. BBB requested Colonics By Sakinah provide substantiation or discontinue the advertised claims.
Finally, the business advertises on mycolonic.vpweb.com/PRICES-AND-RX-INFO.html that “A Medical Prescription (RX) is required for this procedure in the State of Texas. FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE, THE RX IS PROVIDED FOR YOU AND IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICES QUOTED BELOW.”
BBB requested the business provide the name of the physician(s) and license number(s) from the Texas Medical Board to verify the license. BBB also requested clarification if the procedure is required to be performed by a medical doctor in the State of Texas.
As of August 13, 2020 BBB did not receive a response to our inquiry.
