On December 19, 2019, BBB contacted HomeStar Solar Solutions regarding a claim on their website of
"With Homestar Solar Solutions, you can get paid to switch to solar energy, and stop paying your electric bill in the process.".

BBB Code of Advertising Rule 34 states... Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.

As of April 13, 2018, the company has failed to substantiate the aforementioned claims and remains invited to contact BBB to discuss the concerns of their consumers.

BBB recommends that consumers always check the business out first by contacting their local BBB or www.BBB.org before doing business with a new company. It is recommended that you do not pay with a money order, through Western Union or MoneyGram, but to use a credit card in case you need to dispute the charges. Always use a secure Internet connection when making a purchase. Reputable websites use technologies such as SSL (Secure Socket Layer) that encrypt data during transmission. Look for the little padlock in the address bar or a URL that starts with "https" instead of "http," as the "s" stands for "secure."

On March 09, 2021, BBB requested that HomeStar Solar Solutions provide the operational status of their business as they have stated to consumers that they were no longer in business, but would still assist consumer with their dispute. As of March 25, 2021, the business has failed to respond to BBB's requests. As a result, BBB is reporting that HomeStar Solar Solutions is out of business.

BBB will continue to accept and report complaints against this business and fulfill its responsibility to inform businesses of communications from its customers, this business has stopped responding to BBB. Therefore, as of March 25, 2021, BBB will close all complaints as unpursuable. However, should the business respond, consumers will be notified.
