- Government Actions:Government Action: BBB reports on known government actions involving business’ marketplace conduct:Pennsylvania v. Anthony Hoffman, et al
The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the governments allegations, which have not yet been proven.
In June 2019, the owner and two employees of this company were each charged by the Philadelphia District Attorney's office with 31 counts of insurance fraud, 30 counts of theft by deception, 31 counts of forgery, 4 counts of passing bad checks and 1 count of conspiracy. The allegations include claims that the owner did not pay many of his customers who were owed settlements and that when he did pay the claim, it was done with someone else's settlement. The DA's office further alleged that the two employees ran the business while the owner was in federal prison for income tax related issues. The employees ran the business with the owner's help and followed the previously described methods of operation in failing to pay customers and then paying complaining customers with others' funds. For more information, contact the Philadelphia District Attorney's Insurance Fraud Unit office at 215-686-8729 or IDADMS_InsFd@phila.gov.
