In December 2018, BBB contacted this firm concerning advertising claims on its website, including "Best Price Guarantee," "We'll beat it by 10%," and "We are an authorized distributor for some of the finest manufacturers."
According to the BBB Code of Advertising, advertisements which set out company policy of matching or bettering competitors' prices may be used, provided that the offer is made in good faith; the offer clearly and conspicuously discloses fully any material and significant conditions which apply including, if applicable, what evidence a consumer must present to take advantage of the offer; and the terms of the offer are not unrealistic or unreasonable for the consumer. BBB requested that the company disclose the terms of this policy wherever it is advertised but did not receive a reply and the company did not include these terms on its website.
With regard to the claim "We are an authorized distributor for some of the finest manufacturers," the BBB Code of Advertising states that the primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any claims or offers made before publication or broadcast and, upon request, present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or the Better Business Bureau. BBB requested that the company provide substantiation of this statement but did not receive a reply.
