The business states that a "free bottle included with every EcoWasher® purchase!"  According to the BBB Code of Advertising, the use of the word free includes a requirement, among others, that the “free” item actually is free. When offered with the purchase of another item, the free item should not be paid for by an increase in the regular price of the other item.

Additionally, according to the BBB Code of Advertising, claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. Claims that relate to tangible qualities and performance values of a product or service can be used when the advertiser has substantiation.  The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser; advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.  Also, an advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true.  Therefore, BBB requested the business substantiate the following:

Not only has ozone technology long been trusted by hospitals, but research has proven that the use of ozone could be effective in preventing and controlling the new Coronavirus!"  BBB requested the business substantiate that its EcoWasher product is effective in preventing and controlling the Coronavirus.

"Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - Linked to cancer, neurotoxicity, organ toxicity, skin irritation and endocrine disruption." 

"Enjoydeeper cleaning, softer fabrics, brighter colors and HUGEannual savings with EcoWasher!"   BBB requested the business  provide clinical data showing doing laundry with EcoWasher results in deeper cleaning, softer fabrics, brighter colors than other methods.

"Eliminate Chemicals - Say goodbye to toxic detergent & save big! Make the switch to a natural, chemical free laundry experience that is safe for the whole family!"  The business' website states that its product produces chemicals.  “As the EcoWasher® powers on & water begins to flow, an internal generator produces an electrical discharge - a scientific, yet natural process similar to that of a lightening storm. This discharge generates activated oxygen molecules known as ozone - as well as hydrogen peroxide molecules & negative ions - which are infused into the water through a direct venturi injection process.”

The business offers an Advanced Virus Technologies affiliate program. The marketing materials imply the business' products protect against COVID-19.  The business removed the link to the particular marketing flyer challenged by BBB.  However, the business still claims, "Let AVT help you protect against COVID19 and other Dangerous Viruses!"

On October 21, 2020, a manager with the business stated that she would review the challenged claims and address.  The business has not received further correspondence from the business regarding the matter.
