          Pattern of Complaint

          BBB files indicate this business has a pattern of complaints from consumers alleging they paid E-Bail Bonds to have their loved ones bailed out of jail, however, the loved ones remained in jail, and bail money was not returned, and calls and requests for assistance were ignored. BBB wrote to the business on June 16, 2019, June 26, 2019 and July 2, 2019 requesting their voluntary cooperation in resolving the underlying cause for the complaints.

          On June 24, 2019, Ms. Brim called to say she would address the issues in writing. BBB received a written response from her on July 3, 2019 which reads: 

          "Additional staff will be brought on to handle the volume of business coming in by 8/15/2019 and we are working on being back in an office by that time as well.
          Refund process will be outlined in writing instead of verbal and will have to be signed by the client and a copy provided to them.  
          Will make sure clients understand the time frame of posting bond and what to expect."

          BBB will continue to monitor activity and update the BBB Business Profile as needed.

          On June 18, 2019, BBB initiated an investigation on the business after we learned the principal, Erica Brim, was using a mailbox in the UPS Store at 2868 Stelzer Rd Ste 332, Columbus OH 43219 as her business address. BBB wanted to understand how a bail bondsman could meet clients at a UPS Store. BBB interviewed several person who fled complaints adn learned that the UPS Store was near a Subway sandwich shop, adn that is where she met clients. The consumers who contacted BBB said ms. Brim had taken money to post bail for their loved ones, but their loved ones were not bonded out. BBB emailed E-Bail Bonds concerning this pattern. Ms. Brim called BBB several times indicating BBB and her clients did not understand how she conducts her business. She did not offer to resolve any of the complaints in BBB files. BBB called other persons in the bail bond business, and learned that Ms. Brim's manner of conducting business was not in line with best practices in the industry. BBB shared their concerns with the Ohio Department of Insurance which oversees Surety Bond licenses. As of July 24, 2019, Ms. Brim's surety bond license has been inactive.
