    Alert:
This company first came to the attention of Cleveland BBB in February of 2014.  At that time several local consumers reported receiving unsolicited e-mails with offers to purchase their timeshare property.

Although varying in content, at least two of the e-mails claim the consumer initially requested information several months earlier.  (Neither of the consumers has any such recollection.)

The e-mail also stated there are no fees for listing or marketing but it does indicate the seller (consumer) is responsible for certain fees totaling $207.

    Overview

This company first came to the attention of Cleveland BBB in February of 2014.  At that time several local consumers reported receiving unsolicited e-mails with offers to purchase their timeshare property.

Although varying in content, at least two of the e-mails claim the consumer initially requested information several months earlier.  (Neither of the consumers has any such recollection.)

The e-mail also stated there are no fees for listing or marketing but it does indicate the seller (consumer) is responsible for certain fees totaling $207.

Purchase offers obtained by BBB from two different consumers are virtually identical referencing the same buyer name, signatures, dates and a partial street address of 3117 Palm Street.

Recent complaints from consumers in Florida, Kentucky and Ohio have reported sending monies via wire transfer to a party in Daytona Beach, Florida in anticipation of a signed contract from a buyer.  At least one consumer was then asked to send additional monies.  After doing so, none of the consumers ever received a contract and none has been able to establish contact with company representatives.

BBB was unable to find any filings for a company of this name registered with the Ohio Secretary of State.  Additionally, BBB is aware the address cited on the company website is also the site of a UPS Store postal mail box location (http://brooklyn-oh-0529.theupsstorelocal.com).

As with any business transaction BBB and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) advises consumers to proceed cautiously before allowing someone to sell your timeshare.

    * Check them out before you agree to pay them any money. See if the state Attorney General, local consumer protection agencies, or the Better Business Bureau in the company’s home state have complaints about them on file. Then, search online by entering the company name and the word “complaints” or “scam.”

    * Deal only with licensed real estate brokers or agents. Check with the Real Estate Commission in the state where your timeshare is located to make sure the company has a current license.

    * Get all terms in writing before you agree to anything. That includes services the company will perform; timing of the sale; fees and commissions; and cancellation and refund policies. If a company says you have to act now or you might miss out on a buyer, it’s not a company you want to do business with.

    * Consider doing business only with a company that gets paid after the timeshare is sold. And don’t wire money or pay in cash.

    * Be alert to a repeat scam. If a company offers to help get your money back from a timeshare resale scam  but wants you to pay them before they do anything for you, walk away. This is a classic setup for another scam.
