BBB attempted to seek basic information from the business, however mail has been marked returned from the Superior Avenue address and company has been unresponsive to email messages.  BBB does not know where the business is physically located. BBB urges caution when choosing to do business with a company whose physical location is unknown.

In May 2021, BBB contacted Comcar Maintenance regarding advertising claims on its website and Facebook pages. 

At its website's Contact page are logos identifying Comcar Maintenance as a Certified Chimney Sweep with the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) and as a National Chimney Sweep Guild Member.  According to the BBB Code of Advertising, the primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.  BBB has been unable to verify the firm's affiliation with these organizations and asked the business to provide written substantiation showing current affiliation or renewal(s) in process with these organizations.  The business did not reply to BBB nor did they discontinue or modify the claims.

At the website's Contact page, the business advertises "100% Satisfaction Guarantee." When using the term guarantee in product advertising, the advertiser must clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the guarantee can be seen prior to sale at the advertiser's location or viewed on the advertiser’s website.  When “satisfaction guarantee" is used, any material limitations or conditions that apply to the guarantee must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed.  The business did not reply to BBB or add the details of the guarantee.

At its Facebook page, at the Post dated August 17, 2020, and on its website, Comcar Maintenance offers 6 coupons for various discounts. The BBB Code of Advertising states that unqualified sales may be used in advertising only if there is a significant reduction from the advertiser's regular price and the sale is for a limited period of time. If the sale exceeds 30 days advertisers should be prepared to substantiate that the "sale" is indeed a valid reduction and has not become their regular price. Ohio Consumer Law also prohibits continuous sales. BBB requested that the business provide substantiation that these price reductions have not become its regular prices, but did not receive a reply. 

In addition, one of the these coupons offers "10% off licensed competitors written estimate." BBB requested that they clarify what type of license and service this discount refers to but did not receive a reply.
