On April 27, 2020, Genova Diagnostics, Inc. entered into a Settlement Agreement with the United States Department of Justice. The Settlement Agreement settles allegations that the business submitted false or fraudulent claims to Medicare, TRICARE, and FEHBP in violation of the False Claims Act.
Under terms of the Settlement Agreement, the business agreed to pay approximately $17,400,737 through the surrender of claim funds held in suspension plus up to an additional $26,000,000 if certain financial contingencies occur within the next five years for a total potential payment of up to $43,400,737 in restitution and to cooperate fully and truthfully with the United States' investigation of individuals and entities not released in the Agreement.
The Settlement Agreement was for settlement purposes only and should not be considered as an admission of guilt or finding of violation of the law.
