In April 2021, Better Business Bureau questioned Chakur Design Group LLC's website, www.chakurdesigngroupllc.com, which stated, “Customer Satisfaction Guaranteed”. In addition to an advertisement placed in Around Arnold/Imperial publication which stated, “FREE 6’ Tree With Any Project Valued Over $2,500”.
BBB’s Code of Advertising standards states, “Advertisers should only use ‘satisfaction guarantee,’ ‘money back guarantee,’ ‘free trial offer,’ or similar representations in advertising if the seller or manufacturer refunds the full purchase price of the advertised product or service at the consumer’s request.”
In reference to free claims, please note that BBB’s Code of Advertising standards, Section 14, states, “An advertiser may use the word “free” in advertising whenever the advertiser is offering an unconditional gift. If receipt of the “free” product or service is conditional on a purchase or service:
The advertiser must clearly and conspicuously disclose this condition with the “free” offer (not simply by placing an asterisk or symbol next to “free” and referring to the condition(s) in a footnote); and
- The advertiser must not have increased the normal price of the product or service to be purchased nor reduced its quantity or quality.”
BBB requested the business provide substantiation, discontinue or modify the claims made in its advertising. The business confirmed receipt of correspondence from BBB but did not provide a response.
