- Advertising Review:
In November 2022, BBB contacted Croft Mattress regarding advertising claims made on the company's website, www.croftmattress.com. BBB questioned "The Lowest Prices" and "American Made".
BBB's Code of Advertising states, “Despite an advertiser’s best efforts to ascertain competitive prices, the rapidity with which prices fluctuate and the difficulty of determining prices of all sellers at all times preclude an absolute knowledge of the truth of unqualified underselling/lowest price claims. Advertisers can lessen the potential for consumer confusion by appropriate qualifications to any underselling/lowest price claim such as by stating, if truthful, that the advertiser will meet or beat a lower price.” The Code also states, “‘Made in USA’ and similar terms used to describe the origin or a product must be truthful and substantiated. An advertiser must not express or imply that a product or product line is exclusively ‘Made in USA’ unless all or virtually all of the product is made in the U.S. All significant parts and processing that go into the product must be of U.S. origin. That is, the product should contain no-or negligible-foreign content.”
BBB asked Croft Mattress to substantiate the claims or modify or discontinue them. The company failed to respond to BBB.
