On 4/3/23, BBB contacted Outrageous Tan requesting documentation to support claims made on their website. Specifically, BBB asked about statistics describing an infrared sauna service, such as “our bodies are able to absorb as much as 93% of the infrared waves,” and “may induce up to 2-3 times the sweat volume of a traditional sauna.”
Additionally, BBB asked the business to provide documentation to support health benefit claims made about the infrared sauna, including “helps clear tinnitus,” “relief from pain during later stages of cancer,” “cirrhosis of the liver is reversed,” and others.
The business sent an initial response on 4/4, indicating it would provide requested documentation. BBB sent follow-up e-mails on 4/21 and 5/15 requesting this documentation, then a Certified Letter on 6/8. As of 6/23/23, the business has not responded further, or provided documentation to support claims about the infrared sauna’s health benefits.

Advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request. All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided.

Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.
