On July 22,2020 the business entered into a Consent Order with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. The Consent Order settles allegations that the business violated Minn. Stat. 326B.082, subd. 11(b)(1) (2018) and Minn. Stat. 326B.089 and 326B.84 (2018); Minn.R. 2891.0020 (2019); Minn. Stat. 326B.84 (4) (2018); Minn. Stat. 326B.082, subd. 1 and 3 and 326B.81 (2018); Minn. Stat. 326B.082, subd. 11 (b) (2) (6) and 326B.84 (14) and 326B.082, subd. 11 (b) (8)(9) and 326B.84 (2) (15) (2018). Under terms of the Consent Order, the business agreed to revocation of their residential building contractor license, and the licenses of related businesses, KRL Exteriors and Midway Vo-Tech Incorporated are terminated. The revocation of the license is stayed for 10 years contingent on the business's full compliance with the Consent Order. The business agreed to update their contract to be in compliance with Minn. Stat. 326B.809, 326B.87, 326B.811 and 327A.08 (2018). They also will have all contracts and change orders with Minnesota consumers be in writing, signed and dated by the business and consumers. The business is further prohibited from offering anything of value to offset a customer's insurance deductible, including inducements such as material upgrades, sign credits, referral credits. The business will also provide reasonable supervision to employees, subcontractors and agents and complete all contracted work in accordance with building codes, manufacturer installation instructions and best practices. The business is prohibited from directing or sending any individuals to perform electrical work and may not allow others to use their license for any reason.
A $15,000 penalty is imposed, with a 10 year stay of the payment of the penalty. The stay of the penalty is effective for 10 years from the date of the Consent Order.
