Current Alerts For This Business
On October 13, 2020, BBB contacted this business regarding BBB's concerns about their advertising and sales practices. While the business responded and provided some documentation and information about their sales practices, some issues remained unanswered. Specifically, BBB was concerned that the business offers debt negotiation services, but did not provide documentation to show a license with the Minnesota Department of Commerce was not required. BBB requested copies of communications with potential consumers. The business declined to provide nor clearly explain how client lists are created and under what guidelines consumers are contacted. The business contacted BBB in February, 2021 and stated the business's mailing address had changed, but declined to update the information on their website. BBB expressed concern that consumers may be confused and unable to contact the business easily. In addition, BBB expressed concerns about the claims on the website that stated the business "is a federally designated Debt Relief Agency." BBB was unable to confirm any federal designation. The business declined to provide documentation to support the claim and to remove the claim from their website. As of July 21, 2021, this claim remains on the website for this business.
BBB urges consumers to be cautious when contracting with a business to provide debt relief or debt negotiation services.
The BBB Code of Advertising states: 1. Basic Principles of the Code
1.1 The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.
1.2 Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used.
1.3 An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true.
1.4 Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact.
