On July 17, 2018, Michelle Stevens, owner of EELON Training Academy (EELON) entered into a Plea Agreement with the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. The agreement settles allegations that the business bribed a public official at the VA Program for Disabled Military Veterans. Specifically, Stevens was billing for students tuition and supplies under The Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) program who did not attend classes, in total she received $83,000 of the $300,000 billed. She also admitted to making two cash payments to a VR&E program counselor for sending veterans under his supervision to EELON for training. Stevens was sentenced to 30 months of incarceration, supervised release of three years, a special assessment of $100, and restitution in the amount of $83,000.
