On 6/28/2021 the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the State of Georgia jointly filed a Complaint and Proposed Consent Order in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Charges filed allege the business is in violation of Telemarketing and Consumer Fraud and Abuse Prevention Act, the Telemarketing Sales Rule, the Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010, and Georgia's Fair Business Practices Act. Burlington Financial Group, LLC allegedly deceived consumers into hiring the company to eliminate or lower credit-card debts and improve consumers' credit scores. If entered by the court, the order would ban the company and its owners and executives from the industry and impose a civil penalty of $150,001.
