On August 22, 2023, Mid-Continent Roofing and Restoration, LLC entered into a consent judgment with the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office. The DA’s Consumer Protection Division investigated the business after receiving a complaint from a protected consumer. The judgment settles allegations that Mid-Continent Roofing and Restoration, LLC violated the Kansas Consumer Protection Act by failing to provide a material benefit to the protected consumer when the business failed to issue a $13,205.65 refund, after failing to replace the consumer’s roof. Prior to the settlement, the business voluntarily provided a full refund to the consumer. Under terms of the judgment, Mid-Continent Roofing and Restoration, LLC agreed to pay a $2,500.00 civil penalty, along with additional investigative expenses and court costs. The business also promised to not perform or contract for work it does not have the requisite license or skill to perform. Future services will include obtaining necessary permits and inspections. The consent judgment includes an injunction from engaging in deceptive or unconscionable acts in the future and Mid-Continent Roofing and Restoration, LLC agreed to cooperate with the investigation of any future complaints. The judgment was for settlement purposes only and should not be considered as an admission of guilt or finding of violation of the law.
