A customer reported talking to an employee at the business, James Edward, about an engine for the consumer's truck. The consumer received a picture of the replacement engine and the price: $700. The consumer was told that if he used an American Express gift card, he would not have to pay shipping. So he bought the gift card. He did not receive payment confirmation, so he called and asked for James Edwards. He was on hold a few minutes then the call was disconnected. He called back and the same thing happened. He has been unable to reach anyone at the business.
A consumer reported paying $550 for 2 car parts. He was told he would receive a tracking number within 24 hours, but he never received one. After days of trying reach someone at the business, he talked to someone who said his parts would be delivered by Fed Ex later that day. According to the employee, they were unable to provide a tracking number. The consumer called Fed Ex and was told they had no packages scheduled to be delivered to his address.
A consumer reported paying $225 for seats for his Chevy Suburban. A business employee told the consumer he would receive this low price, which included taxes and shipping, if he paid for the seats with Ebay cards. The consumer complied. The Motor Part World employee, Sam Miller, told the consumer he would receive e-mail confirmation and a tracking number. He did not, and he did not receive responses to his calls and text messages.
The BBB has received four complaints about this business in two months. The business responded to the first complaint, filed 7-31-19, and the owner said he has not charged customers since 7-22-19. He also said he has ceased working on new business leads, and he does not have an employee named Sam Miller. In investigating the business's registration, the BBB learned that the business was dissolved on 9-16-19. The BBB suspects a scammer spoofed this legitimate business. Therefore, the BBB is warning consumers about Motor Part World.
