- Advertising Review:
On July 14th, 2022, BBB challenged advertising claims made by East Tree CBD, LLC ("East Tree"). Specifically BBB requested that East Tree substantiate claims that imply that CBD and CBD products can safely and effectively treat a range of animal health conditions. East Tree claims that "There is more and more evidence to suggest that CBD has a ton of health benefits not only for us humans, but for our pets as well. Ranging from reliving symptoms of arthritis or joint pain diminish side effects of skin conditions, such as psoriasis, to behavior issues, such as aggression or anxiety. Using hemp is a safe and often cheaper alternative to prescribed medications." Additionally, East Tree claims that "CBD has been known to: ease acute pain, relax an anxious or stressed pet (travel, weather, and other noises), alleviate severe and chronic pain, soothe digestive issues, decrease apathy or nausea, reduce inflammation, support neurological function, help support a healthy digestive system." This challenge was conducted pursuant to the BBB Code of Advertising, Section 1 - Basic Principles, Section 34 - Claimed Benefits. As of August 3, 2022, the business has not responded to BBB's requests. The case has been closed as unsubstantiated.
