BBB received a complaint on August, 17, 2020 alleging payment of $850 had been made to Epic Dachshunds for purchase of a puppy which had never been received. BBB reached out to the company via USPS, using the address provided on the complainant’s invoice of 2348 E Converse Ave. Springfield IL 62702, on August 17, 2020, August 18, 202 and August 31, 2020. BBB also called the company on August 31, 2020 using the phone number provided in the complaint, (779) 239-5154, and the call would not connect. No phone number, email or physical address was located on website. A website search on ICANN was conducted and the information provided a website creation date of July 29, 2020 with the registrar of the site listed as NameCheap, Inc. BBB conducted an image search of puppies listed on Epic Daschund's site and found the same pictures on other websites.
On August 17, 2020 BBB messaged the company on their website as a secret shopper claiming to be interested in purchasing a puppy from them. A person by the name of Robert messaged back via text at 779-253-3890 and said the choice of puppy was perfect. BBB text messaged the company requesting their location in Springfield. The company text messaged back asking where we were located. BBB responded that we were located in Peoria, Il, not far from there. All communication ceased after BBB's response.
BBB also sent a letter requesting the company respond to the complaint and to provide accurate contact information.
As of September 29, 2020 BBB has not received a response to any correspondence nor has any correspondence sent been returned to BBB by the Post Office.
The website claims that the puppies are raised on a 103 acre farm but BBB was unable to confirm this statement. BBB performed a Google map search of the only address provided which indicated 2348 E Converse Ave. Springfield IL 62702 was a single family residence with residential properties adjacent to this address.
To date, BBB has been unable to confirm the principal's name and whether the location provided on the company website, or the company itself, is authentic. Additionally, the complainant has yet to receive their puppy, a refund, or hear back from the company. The complaint has been closed as unanswered.
