Important information
- Additional Info:The bureau does not have sufficient information to issue a report. We requested, but did not receive, information on this organization's programs, finances, governance, and fundraising policies. Represent Youth Outreach has claimed it is operating as a 501(c)(3) under the charitable umbrella of Light Bringers, Ltd. In a letter dated June 10, 2002, Light Bringers states "Light Bringers Rescue Mission, finds it necessary to remove Represent Youth Outreach from their non-profit organization 501(c)(3) umbrella, as of June 30, 2002." The bureau had asked Represent Youth Outreach to submit substantiated information relating to its status as a non-profit charity classified as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS. Documents specifically asked for were the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, IRS Tax Determination Letter and solicitation collateral. The organization has either declined to provide it or ignored our request for it. Although any charitable organization may believe that it has a valid reason for not supplying this information, without it we cannot determine whether they meet our standards for charitable solicitation. The Better Business Bureau's 22 standards for charitable solicitations include a willingness to disclose financial information, adherence to specified guidelines for use of funds and fundraising, including using at least 50 percent of income for programs, a policy of truth in solicitations and informational materials, and governance by an active, impartial governing body. The Bureau believes that adherence to these standards promotes ethical practices on the part of soliciting organizations and instills public confidence in the organization. The Better Business Bureau does not evaluate the worthiness of a charitable program.
