The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.
On August 29, 2022, before the Board of Chiropractic Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs – State of Hawaii the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs’ Regulated Industries Complaints Office (hereinafter RICO) entered into a Settlement Agreement Prior to Filing of Petitions for Disciplinary Action and Board’s Final Order with Aaries T. Oda, D.C (hereinafter Respondent).
RICO alleges that in 2019 and 2020, Respondent ran advertisements under the names of Honolulu Elite Chiropractic, LLC and Oda Ohana Chiropractic and Therapeutic Massage that guaranteed patients using a laser weight-loss system would “instantly lose 1-2 inches without diet or exercise,” that Respondent charged a patient for the advertised laser weight-loss treatments, and that the patient did not obtain the promised results, in potential violation of HRS §§ 442-9(a)(5) and 442-9(a)(6).
Aaries T. Oda was fined $1,000.
Aaries T. Oda did not admit to violating any law or rule but acknowledges that RICO has sufficient cause to file a Petition for Disciplinary Action against their chiropractor’s license. In addition, Dr. Oda refunded the patient for the procedure.
