- Advertising Review:In July 2021, BBB contacted Ice House America regarding the following advertising claim on its website and LinkedIn page:
"IHA revolutionized the industry in 2003 by combining superior manufacturing, advanced engineering, and innovative technology to provide high quality ice direct to consumers at wholesale pricing."
According to the BBB Code of Advertising, the responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. The term “wholesale pricing” can be used where they are the current prices which retailers usually and customarily pay when they buy such products for resale.
BBB requested that the business provide substantiation that its prices are comparable to those charged by wholesalers in its trade area but did not receive a reply.
