BBB conducted an investigation based on a new BBB Scam Tracker Entry received in July 2020. The consumer alleged not receiving the promised puppy that was paid for by money transfer using Zelle. After claiming the puppy was "shipped" the business wanted more money for life insurance; the consumer found that the picture of the puppy they were interested in did not belong to the business, the picture was stolen from an Instagram post. Puppy was not received and no refunds were issued.

BBB reviewed the website, https://hopelandaustralianshepherds.com:
- The website was created on June 15th, 2020.
- BBB was not able to verify if the business actually owns the pictures of the puppies listed on their website or if the pictures were stolen from another website.
- The puppies are advertised as Australian Shepherds, however the images of the "available" puppies are actually various dog breeds.

- The website https://www.p-corgiland.com was created on March 8th, 2019.
- BBB was not able to verify if the business actually owns the pictures of the puppies listed on their website or if the pictures were stolen from another website.
- The puppies are advertised as Pembroke Welsh Corgis, however the images of the "available" puppies are actually various dog breeds.

In July 2020, BBB received a Scam Tracker entry concerning Hopeland Australian Shepherds:

"I was searching for puppies online when I found their website, it looked all pretty good and I decided to enquiry about a puppy. Soon after that they emailed me with pictures and some question so they could see if I would be a good fit for the dog, when that was all done and we came to terms they sent me their zelle information so I could send them the money. Then when it came for the day of the shipping that's when things started to get weird, the supposedly shipping company which was bringing the puppy asked for more money saying " that the puppy needed an electronic ventilated crate due to change in weather, also that the puppy needed a rabbies vaccine, and that the money for those things would be 95% refunded once they deliver the dog. I haven't yet realized their intention and was hoping to get the dog safely so I send them the extra money and requested some pictures, the delivery agent then said at the moment he could't get a picture of the dog but he would attempt later. He then sent me a video of some puppies saying he couldn't get a god shot of my dog because it was behind another dog, furthermore all the dogs on the pictures looked like boxers and that alarmed me because my puppy was suppose to be a miniature Australian shepherd but there was none on the video shown. It was then that they updated the shipping website saying that the puppy had left Florida and it was on its way to Denver Colorado, but shortly after that they emailed me again also called saying to check my email which said that I needed life insurance for the dog so yet again I had to pay more money. My fiancé and I stumbled across an instagram page with the same name and pictures of the dog we were suppose to get it, that's when I contacted my bank to try to get my money refunded and started to file a scam report."
