BBB Industry Tips:
How the Scam Works:
You receive an email offering you a job at a shipping service. The company is hiring "agents" to package items and mail them overseas. The position reimburses "agents" for their expenses and pay a monthly stipend. It sounds like easy money, so you accept the job.
Soon, your first assignment arrives. You are asked to ship something - often electronics - to an address domestically or overseas. You send off the items, but your payment never arrives. You've been conned, and you may have just helped scammers move illegally obtained goods.
Watch out for variations on this scam, such as requests that could open you up to ID theft. Some victims reported sending a copy of their driver's license with their "job application," which gave scammers their name, address and photo.
How to Spot a Reshipping Job Scam:
- Be very cautious of any job that asks you to share personal information or hand over money. Scammers will often use the guise of running a credit check, setting up direct deposit or paying for training.
- If a job looks suspicious, search for it in Google. If the result comes up in many other cities with the exact same job post, it is likely a scam.
- Check out the business' website. Scammers often falsely use the names of real businesses. Check on the business's site or give them a call to confirm the position exists

Additional Complaint Information
An employee filed a pending complaint with BBB, alleging that they were offered a job position but were not paid for the month after duties were fulfilled. Specifically, the duties included mailing out packages in the employee's own name and address. In December 2019 BBB contacted the business to request their position, to date no reply has been received. Below is the employee's complaint details:
This company is a reshipping scam. They had me fill out a W2, job application and had me ship items - and never paid the agreed amount on job award.
They hired me on 09/19 to reship items they sent to my address. I filled out a W2, gave my banking information and they had a legit website, email etc. They stated it takes 30 days to get set up and paid. I was promised $3800 a month salary and had to be home 10am to 6pm, Mon- Friday. I shipped five packages with package/shipping information they provided. To addresses they stated to send. Emails came from a translogicus.com address. Their employee portal seemed legit. Even their website. When 10/19 came around - no pay. And no packages shipped to me that week. I contacted by email given, the employee portal, even the telephone number they gave me. NO response. No pay. I've been ripped off.
