          BBB has received a complaint about a scam artist fraudulently using the names Better Banking & Trust and BB&T Underwriting. The person used the name Alan Thomas and falsely told the consumer that he was affiliated with these names and requested that they make payments to him for their mortgage loans. The consumer wired two monthly mortgage payments to him using MoneyGram.

          The Clearwater, Florida address used by this scam artist is a mail drop box. The phone number that was given to the consumer is no longer active.
