The business states "Manufacturer warranties are limited. That means if you plan to keep your vehicle for a long time, your warranty will expire. That’s why all our new vehicle purchases come with a Free Lifetime Limited Warranty – assuring you of extended coverage on the engine, transmission and powertrain for as long as you own the car!" According to the BBB Code of Advertising, in a negotiated sale, no “free” offer of a product or service should be made where it would likely mislead consumers, such as where the product to be purchased is sold at a price arrived through bargaining. In addition, federal guidelines for automobile advertising state that "...an offer of 'free goods' or services based on the purchase of another product or service is subject to federal law prohibiting deceptive advertising. Because the price of a vehicle is typically negotiated, an offer of goods or services contingent on the purchase of a vehicle should not be advertised as 'free.'" BBB requested that the company modify this claim but did not receive a reply.
The business also advertises that "Our reputation depends on customer satisfaction, that’s why Garavel CJDR guarantees its repairs." Under the BBB Code of Advertising, when using the terms “guarantee” or “warranty” the advertiser should clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details can be seen prior to sale. These details should disclose any material limitations on the guarantee or warranty. BBB requested the company add these details to its advertising but did not receive a response.
"The largest jeep dealer in Connecticut." Because a statement such as this can be proved or disproved, it requires substantiation. The company did not provide substantiation for this claim or modify the statement.
The company's website offers a 'Wholesale Tier' of used vehicles advertised as "Wholesale To The Public." Such terms can be used where they are the current prices which retailers usually and customarily pay when they buy such products for resale. BBB requested that the business provide substantiation that these prices are comparable to those charged by wholesalers in its trade area but did not receive a reply.
