On January 17th, 2020, Better Business Bureau Serving Connecticut (BBB) contacted Immaculate Carpet Care concerning the business’ inclusion of the BBB Accredited Business Seal on the lower section of their website. Immaculate Carpet Care is not a BBB Accredited Business and was therefore infringing on the BBB trademark. It was additionally brought to the business’ attention that other copyrighted material being used on their website was done so without authorization. Further, BBB asked for substantiation and/or modification of a satisfaction guarantee, a guaranteed unbeatable prices claim, environmental benefit claims, illegible discount conditions, and the inclusion of an alleged certification from the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration.

On February 14, 2020 the business responded to BBB’s correspondence indicating that they had no interest in addressing the outlined issues other than to discontinue use of the Better Business Bureau Accredited Business Seal in their advertising. As of March 3, 2020 it has been confirmed that the website no longer contains the BBB Accredited Business seal, but that all other issues remain in violation of the BBB Code of Advertising.  BBB suggests consumers discuss provisions of guarantees or discounts with businesses and verify any advertised claims prior to purchase of items or services.
