The consumer reported, in part:
"When requesting price quote on a new car, an ad popped up offering employee pricing. Also received an email that offered employee pricing. Spoke to representative of dealer who also confirmed employee and below MSRP pricing on the car that I was asking about. Upon arrival, was told that the car didn't qualify and instead was $2000 over MSRP but they could give me the promo on a different year car....As a result of this promotional offer, I drove 45 minutes to the dealer in question just to be told that it didn’t qualify for the “vehicle of choice” we wanted and instead it would actually cost more than the MSRP as they are adding extra costs above the listed price due to market conditions. The manager on duty did say that it could be used on a different year model but they didn’t have any there at the moment. I also was in conversation with their internet outreach department prior to visiting the deal[er] who assured me we would get employee pricing well below MSRP but only if we “acted now” before the special expired."
