On July 8, July 16, August 1, and August 13, 2024, BBB attempted to contact Herbal Extract, Ltd by email and postal mail requesting that the business modify its website to be in compliance with the BBB Code of Advertising.
Specifically, Herbal Extract’s website includes the following statement regarding the health benefits of CBD:
CANNABINOIDS SUCH AS CANNABIDIOL (CBD) CAN PROVIDE RELIEF FROM MANY CONDITIONS, INCLUDING: STRESS, ANXIETY, PAIN, INFLAMMATION, AND PTSD.Section 34 of the BBB Code of Advertising addresses Claimed Results where it states, “Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.”
BBB requested that the business either provide valid documentation to substantiate the above statement, or- in the absence of recent, reliable, relevant substantiation- remove these claims from their marketing materials.
The business did not respond to these concerns.
