Pattern of Complaints
Complainants typically allege that that after paying for service from the company they are contacted and told that the company is no longer able to service their contract and the complainant is eligible for a refund. Complainants also allege that they become suspicious of the company when, in order to issue the refund, the company either asks to remotely connect to their computer or asks them to log into their bank accounts while the company is remotely connected. Complainants further report that the company refuses to issue a refund in any other way.
The business has responded by stating that the complainant has been issued a refund and that they have had a problem with another company calling their customers and attempting to steal their clients.
BBB believes that these complaints contain a pattern of allegations and contacted the business on June 19, 2015. We requested the company provide to us steps that it is taking to eliminate the underlying cause of complaints, if any. The company responded to our request on June 22, 2015, indicating that they had been the victim of a hacking in which their customers' contact information had been stolen and used to make fraudulent phone calls. According to the company, the callers attempt to scam their customers by trying to gain access to their financial information. The company states that it has sent alerts to its customers by email and through the mail warning them about this scam. The company has also posted an alert on the home page of its website, www.thebestpcdoctor.com.
