    Williams Sonoma Inc., settles with FTC

    On July 13, 2020, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) entered into a settlement agreement with Williams-Sonoma, Inc. File No. 202 3025.

    The proposed settlement was first announced in March 2020. The FTC’s complaint alleged that Williams-Sonoma deceptively claimed in advertisements and promotional materials that certain categories of its products were all or virtually all made in the United States.

    Under the terms of the final order, Williams-Sonoma is required to pay $1 million to the FTC. The company is also prohibited from making unqualified U.S., origin claims for any product, unless it can show that the product’s final assembly or processing and all significant processing takes place in the United States, and that all or virtually all components of the product are made and sourced in the United States.

    Under the order, any qualified Made in USA claims must include a clear and conspicuous disclosure about the extent to which the product contains foreign parts, components, and/or processing. To claim that a product is assembled in the United States, Williams-Sonoma must ensure that it is last substantially transformed in the United States, its principal assembly takes place in the United States, and its United States assembly operations are substantial.

      I ordered the Farmhouse King **** bed in July 2021 . The original delivery date was set for August. Initially, it was pushed back to September, which I completely understand given supply chain issues. I was contacted in early September and we set a delivery date for Sep 9. I received multiple email and text reminders of this appointment. The morning of the 9th it was showing as on-track to be delivered around 3 PM. I checked again 5 min before 3 PM and received a message that my delivery had been cancelled and a phone number was provided. I reached out to the phone number where they informed me that my order was missing pieces. They were going to search the warehouse and assured me I'd hear back in no more than 72 hours. A week went by and I never heard anything. I called again. They said they could reschedule my delivery date for Sep 21. Same thing happened with the second delivery date. I received notifications up until the last minute, 5 min prior the delivery was cancelled, called the warehouse, someone said they would track it down and call me back in 72 hours. I never received a call. I called them after about 5 days. The person I spoke to informed me they needed to reorder the bed. I accepted that the new arrival date would not be until late October. It showed a delivery window of Oct 20-Oct 25. Oct 25 rolls around and it updated to Nov 5- Nov 22 on the portal. On Nov 23rd, the delivery date online was still showing Nov 22. I called again. Spoke to **************** in leadership who assured me that the items were in the warehouse, she would confirm with the warehouse manager, and would contact me if there was an issue. She scheduled delivery for 12/3. 12/3 rolls around same EXACT issue. I called the warehouse that day. They said give them 24 hours, no call back. I called them the next day, the individual said they would personally follow- up with me that day, no call back or email. I called back the following Monday (12/6), same story. I also emailed ****** C and called her extension. No response. The charge for the bed was made to my credit card over 4 months ago at this point. I understand the supply chain challenges, but the lack of communication and transparency around this order is astounding. No one at Pottery Barn is taking responsibility and when I look online it still shows my delivery date of 12/3. I have NO IDEA when I will receive this bed. I am 7 months pregnant and our mattress has been on the floor the entire time we have been waiting on this bed. I NEED ANSWERS!I'd appreciate someone in PB contacting me directly and taking responsibility for their product delivery.
