On July 23, 2021, Libre Technology Inc. entered into a Consent Order with the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation. The order settles allegations that the business engaged in the servicing of student loans in California without a license since at least January 2018 and stopped marketing such services in about September 2019. Under terms of the Order, the business was ordered to desist and refrain from engaging in the business of servicing student loans in California without a license, and also was ordered to pay a penalty of $2,500.00.
