On May 17, 2021, Student Advocates Group LLC and Sean Quincy Lucero entered into a Stipulated as to Entry of Order for Permanent Injunction, Monetary Relief and Final Judgement with the Federal Trade Commission. The Stipulated Order settles allegations that the business made deceptive student loan debt relief representation, charged advanced fee for debt relief services, made material debt relief misrepresentations, assisted and facilitated in deceptive and abusive telemarketing acts, and failed to clearly and conspicuously disclose in writing information that the consumer can make an informed decision regarding the credit being offered. Under terms of the settlement, the business is permanently restrained and enjoined from debt relief product or services, prohibited against misrepresentations, prohibits them from violating the Telemarketing Sales Rule, and includes a monetary judgment in the amount of $24,561,908 is entered in favor of the Commission against the Stipulating Defendants. The monetary judgment is partially suspended due to an inability to pay.

On February 18, 2020, Student Advocates Group LLC entered into a Stipulated Final Judgment and Order with the New York Attorney General. The Judgment settles allegations that the business is in violation of Telemarketing Sales Rule, Federal Credit Repair Organization Act, New York General Business Law, New York Banking Law and New York General Obligations law prohibiting fraudulently, deceptively and illegally advertising, marketing, offering for sale, selling, and financing student debt relief services to thousands of consumers nationwide; prohibiting falsely claiming to be affiliated with the federal government, making multiple misrepresentations to induce consumers to enroll in their services, and charging consumers illegal upfront fees and/or usurious interest rates. Under terms of the Judgment, the business is banned on activities regarding debt relief products and services, prohibited on deceptive practices and false advertising, prohibition on collecting form New York consumers and required consumer notice. The business must pay a judgment in the amount of $2,200,000.
