  On August 6, 2024, BBB requested Myshroom to modify, substantiate or discontinue a claim made on their website (https://www.myshroom.com/) that reads:
  
  “By assisting in the production of white blood cells, this immune mushroom blend could help the body fight against infection and other diseases. “
  
  “This blend of mushrooms for brain health supports nerve cell growth and the creation of ATP, the body’s energy molecule, in the heart and muscle.”
  
  “Best Mushrooms for Liver Health”
  
  “Similar to a mushroom-based liver cleanse, our blend of medicinal mushrooms for liver health provides anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.  This may help eliminate toxins, toxic metabolites, and viral threats to the liver cells.”
  
  “Our mushrooms for blood sugar health aim to improve cholesterol and promote heart health.”
  
  “MyShroom® medicinal mushroom blends are made from hybrid strains of various medicinal mushroom species such as Agaricus subrufescens, Cordyceps militaris, Hericium erinaceus, and more. These strains were developed by university research teams.”

  The advertisement on the company's website’s (https://www.myshroom.com/questions-answers/) also reads:
  
  “There may be sensitivity to the touch to those parts of the body that had diseased cells or tumors for a few days or weeks. This is caused by the immune system attacking and consuming tumor or diseased cells.”
  
  “They are grown in laboratories in the USA.”
  
  The advertisement on the company's website’s (https://www.myshroom.com/brochure/) also reads:
  
  “More people are learning that Myshroom mushrooms have a mix of special chemistry which benefits the body’s ability to fight and prevent chronic diseases.”
  
  “The Science behind MyShroom® : Medicinal mushrooms are a safe food to consume by the FDA “
  
  Advertisers must be prepared to substantiate such claims per BBB's Code of Advertising. 
  
  BBB's Code of Advertising Section 30.1.3, 301.4, and 30.1.11 of the Code states testimonials and endorsements that in general, advertising which uses testimonials or endorsements is likely to mislead or confuse if: if it contains representations or statements which would be misleading if made directly by the advertiser; While literally true, it creates deceptive implications; and a consumer’s experience represented in an advertisement is not the typical experience of those using the product or service, unless the advertisement clearly and conspicuously discloses what the expected results will be. In addition, Section 34  of the Code states claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. Lastly, Section 37.1 of the Code states that “Made in USA” and similar terms used to describe the origin of a product must be truthful and substantiated.
  
  On August 12, 2024, the business responded to BBB's letter but did not substantiate the claims made on their website. As of August 30, 2024 the business has not responded to BBB's request.
