BBB has received information that this business’s name is being used by scammers. Please review the following statement from the company:
"FreedomPlus has learned that its company name, logos and trademarks—along with BBB’s logo—have been misappropriated and are being used by online criminals to facilitate a fraudulent loan scam.
It appears unknowing consumers may have applied for loans at online sites other than FreedomPlus and/or are being contacted by individuals claiming to be representatives of FreedomPlus. They are not. They are criminals attempting to take advantage of well-intended loan applicants. FreedomPlus conducts all business and financial transactions through www.freedomplus.com and discloses that its loans are made by Cross River Bank or MetaBank®. We do not instruct our customers to make any transactions to new company names, addresses or overseas bank accounts. Be wary of loan agreements or other documents that contain typographical errors, formatting inconsistencies, poor quality graphics and images, and awkward language that is not grammatically correct, all of which could be signs of a fraud or scam.
If you have concerns and would like to verify the authenticity of your loan with FreedomPlus, please contact us directly at (800) 368-0061. In addition, if you believe you have been the victim of an internet fraud or scam, consider filing a complaint with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov/Home/ComplaintChoice. Please also consider adding a fraud alert to your credit bureau report and reporting the incident to the FTC at www.ftc.gov/faq/consumer-protection/submit-consumer-complaint-ftc. FreedomPlus has notified the appropriate law enforcement agencies of this issue and will continue fighting to protect consumers from fraudulent and unlawful practices."
